Shrimps are rich in protein and key nutrients and low in carb and are not a bad choice for every holiday menu. Making shrimps with saffron is a plus as it is healthy and adds an intense aroma and flavor.
Saffron Shrimps are a soft and juicy meal that is loved by almost everyone and it can be served as both, the appetizer and the main. There are so many ways to make saffron shrimps, you can grill them, sauté them, or even fried them. The recipe for saffron shrimps is simple as they are cooked with minimum ingredients and give a maximum taste. I am sharing two simple recipes today with almost the same ingredients so you can cook them the way you want.

Ingredients
- Grill:
- 1/3 cup Extra virgin olive oil
- 2 Garlic cloves (finely minced)
- 20 Raw Shrimps (jumbo size, peeled)
- 2 pinches Saffron strands
- 2 Tbsp Fresh lime juice
- Sauté:
- 1/3 cup Extra virgin olive oil
- 2 Garlic cloves (finely minced)
- 2 pinches Saffron strands
- 1 Tsp Smoked paprika
- 1 Tsp Ground cumin
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Grill:
- In a medium bowl, mix olive oil, saffron, lime juice, and garlic cloves.
- Add the shrimps to coat in the mixture completely.
- Cover the shrimps and keep it in the refrigerator for at least two hours.
- On medium heat, prepare the grill.
- Take metal skewers, push shrimps into the skewers, and let drain off the excess mixture.
- Grill until shrimp’s color changes from transparent to white.
- Sauté:
- In a large skillet, pour the olive oil on medium heat.
- Add the garlic clove and fry them until they turned golden brown in color.
- Add the shrimps, paprika, cumin, and saffron.
- Sauté turn 1 or two times and cook the shrimps for 5 – 10 minutes or until they turned pink in color.
TIPS:
- Large shrimps are best for grilling and putting it in skewers is safe so that they do not fall.
- Do not overcook the shrimps. Overcooking is another reason for shrimps breaking or falling or they become hard enough that all the juices and flavor will be gone from them.
- Rinse the frozen shrimps with cool water and leave them for an hour to make them dry completely or if possible, try to cook the freshly bought shrimps for the maximum goodness.
