We already know that saffron is packed full of amazing properties like antioxidants, vitamins and serotonin-producing molecules, but did you know that Manuka Honey is much the same in terms of health benefits?

Manuka honey is a natural antimicrobial and when consumed, can help fight off sore throats and other ailments. Manuka honey, unlike other honey, has a high concentration of a sugar molecule called Methylglyoxal (MGO) which is the reason it has far more beneficial properties than normal honey. The higher the MGO, the better the honey is for you – and manuka honey has over 300 MGOs.

Our raw manuka honey is local to New Zealand and is single source. This means that only one beekeeper and one region is used to make our honey. We keep our Manuka honey as a single source product to help preserve its natural elements and flavours.

Given the incredible natural flavour and health benefits that manuka provides, a marriage between manuka honey and saffron is a no brainer. So, without a further moments delay let’s get stuck into how you can make your very own Manuka Honey and Saffron Yoghurt Pops.

Makes 6-7

2 pinches saffron threads
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3 tablespoons YourSaffron Manuka Honey
2 cups natural Greek yoghurt (any natural yoghurt will do)

    1. Crush your saffron using a mortar and pestle. Put your saffron into a small bowl with the vanilla extract and set aside at room temperature to infuse for 15 minutes.

  1. Once the saffron and vanilla have infused, stir through the honey.

  2. Next, take your traditional greek yogurt and put it into its own bowl. Slowly stir through the saffron and honey mixture. Do not let the honey completely dissolve.

  3. Spoon the mixture into ice block moulds and insert sticks before freezing for at least 4 hours. For best results freeze overnight.

  4. To help release the Manuka Honey and Saffron Yoghurt Pops use warm water.
  5. Enjoy!
